From Costa Mesa, the quickest trip to our hotel usually uses the SR-73 toll road south to Crown Valley Parkway. Our routing check measured about 17 miles and 24 minutes from the center of the city in light traffic. The I-405 south to the I-5 is the toll-free alternative and takes a few minutes longer.
Households on the Eastside, the Westside and in Mesa Verde make the trip because our hotel is exclusively for cats.
When the OC Fair is running in July and August, traffic near Fair Drive and the I-405 can be heavy. If you are leaving town during fair season, a weekday morning drop-off is usually the least stressful.
From the Eastside and neighborhoods near Newport Boulevard, the SR-73 on-ramp near the I-405 is closest. From Mesa Verde and the Westside, the I-405 south is convenient, and you can either continue to the I-5 or switch to the SR-73. If you are boarding for a long trip, dropping off the day before travel gives you a calmer departure morning.
Costa Mesa borders John Wayne Airport. Board with us first, then head back north — the airport is about 23 minutes from our door in light traffic.
