Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about boarding and grooming your cat at Cats Luv Us. Can't find your answer? Give us a call — we love talking about cats.

Booking & Reservations

How do I book a reservation?

Easy! You can book online through our website or give us a call at (949) 582-1732 during business hours. We recommend booking early, especially around holidays and during summer — our suites tend to fill up fast.

Do you really offer the first night free?

We sure do! First-time boarding guests get their first night completely free. It's our way of saying "welcome to the family" and letting you and your cat try us out with zero risk. We're pretty confident you'll both love it here.

What are your business hours for drop-off and pick-up?

We're open Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM, and Saturday from 9 AM to 12 PM. We're closed on Sundays. All drop-offs and pick-ups happen during these hours, so plan your travel accordingly!

How far in advance should I book?

We get this question a lot! For regular stays, a week or two ahead is usually fine. But for holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas, and summer vacation? Book as early as possible — sometimes a month or more in advance. Our loyal cat families tend to rebook year after year, so popular dates go quickly.

Cat Boarding

What suite types do you offer?

We have three suite options to fit every cat's personality and your budget:

Single Room — $21/night, perfect for one relaxed kitty.
Double Room — $35/night, extra space to stretch and explore.
Master Suite (Triple Room) — $50/night, the ultimate cat palace with up to three floors of living space.

Check out our boarding page for full details on each option.

What's included with every boarding stay?

Quite a bit, actually! Every stay includes soft cat beds with hypoallergenic towels, daily gourmet treats, access to our large playrooms complete with bird aviaries (the cats go wild for those), daily cleaning and sanitization of their suite, one-on-one attention and playtime with our staff, and nail clips by request. We also send you daily updates so you never have to wonder how your fur baby is doing.

Do I need to bring my cat's food?

Yes, please! We ask that you bring your cat's regular food to keep their diet consistent and their tummy happy. A sudden food switch can cause digestive issues, and we want your cat feeling their best. Just label everything with your cat's name, and our team will follow their established feeding routine to the letter.

Can you give my cat their medication?

Absolutely — and we're really good at it. Our team has over 30 years of experience administering all types of feline medications, including insulin injections for diabetic cats. Many of our guests are seniors or have special medical needs, and we handle them with care and confidence. Just bring the medication with clear dosing instructions, and we'll take it from there.

Can I board multiple cats together?

Of course! We offer adjoining rooms for multi-cat families, so your cats can stay close or have their own separate space — whatever suits their personalities. We also offer discounted rates for additional cats from the same household. Because more cats should always mean more fun, not more stress.

Is there a minimum stay requirement?

Our minimum is a one-night stay. Whether you're away for one night or one month, your cat will get the same attentive, loving care from our team.

Cat Grooming

What grooming services do you offer?

Our academy-trained Cat Stylists offer a full menu of feline grooming services:

• Shampoo & conditioning (pH-balanced for cats)
• Blow dry & brush out
• Nail trimming
• De-shedding treatments
• Lion cuts & sanitary trims
• Calming shampoo with chamomile for anxious cats
• Waterless bath options (using CHI and Burt's Bees products)
• Nail caps — a humane alternative to declawing

Visit our grooming page for more details!

How do your groomers handle nervous cats?

Great question — and one we take seriously. Every salon visit starts with a hands-on pet assessment where our Cat Stylists evaluate your cat's temperament and comfort level. From there, they adjust their approach accordingly. We also offer calming shampoo and spray with chamomile, and waterless bath options for cats who really don't like water. After 30+ years, we've learned that patience and gentle handling go a long way.

How much does grooming cost?

Pricing varies based on breed, coat condition, and service time, so we don't publish a fixed price list. Give us a call at (949) 582-1732 and we'll give you an estimate based on your cat's specific needs. No surprises — we'll always discuss the plan and cost before we start.

Can my cat get groomed during their boarding stay?

Yes! Many of our guests combine boarding with grooming so their kitty goes home looking (and feeling) fabulous. Just let us know when you book and we'll schedule it during their stay. It's actually the perfect time — your cat is already here and comfortable with our team.

Facility & Safety

Is Cats Luv Us a cats-only facility?

100%. No dogs, no exceptions. This is one of the things our cat parents love most about us. Your cat will never encounter the noise, scent, or stress that comes with being around dogs. Our entire facility — from the layout to the products we use — is designed exclusively for feline guests.

How do you keep the facility clean?

Cleanliness isn't just important to us — it's non-negotiable. We disinfect all room surfaces between every check-out, clean bedding and cages at least twice daily, and maintain completely odor-free rooms. We never use dangerous chemicals or products that could harm your cat. When you walk in, you'll notice the difference right away.

Is there a vet available in case of an emergency?

Yes. If your cat gets sick for any reason during their stay, they'll be examined by one of our on-call veterinarians. We monitor every guest closely and we'll contact you immediately if anything seems off. Your cat's health and safety always come first.

How long have you been in business?

Over 30 years and counting! We've been the go-to cat boarding hotel and grooming destination in Orange County since the early 1990s. In that time, we've cared for thousands of cats and built deep relationships with our cat families — many of whom have been coming back for over a decade. That kind of trust means the world to us.

Do you provide updates while my cat is boarding?

We do! Our team sends daily updates so you can see how your cat is settling in, eating, and playing. We know how hard it is to be away from your fur baby, and we want you to have peace of mind knowing they're happy and well cared for.

Requirements & What to Bring

What vaccinations does my cat need?

All boarding guests must be current on their FVRCP vaccination (feline rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, and panleukopenia), administered within the last three years. Please bring proof of vaccination — a printout from your vet or a photo on your phone works great. This requirement protects every cat in our care.

What should I bring for my cat's stay?

Here's your packing checklist:

• Your cat's regular food (labeled with their name)
• Any medications with clear dosing instructions
• Proof of current FVRCP vaccination
• A favorite toy or blanket from home (optional but recommended — familiar scents help cats settle in faster)

We provide everything else: bedding, towels, treats, toys, and lots of love.

Can you board cats with special needs or medical conditions?

In most cases, yes. We have extensive experience caring for senior cats, diabetic cats needing insulin, and cats on various medications. That said, we do require that cats be healthy and free from contagious illnesses at check-in. If your cat has specific medical needs, give us a call and we'll discuss whether we're the right fit — we almost always are.

Pricing & Payment

What are your boarding rates?

Our nightly rates are:

Single Room: $21/night
Double Room: $35/night
Master Suite (Triple Room): $50/night

We also offer discounted rates for multi-cat families. And don't forget — first night is free for new customers!

Do you offer discounts for long stays?

We love our long-term guests! Give us a call at (949) 582-1732 to discuss rates for extended stays. We're always happy to work with cat families who need a longer arrangement — whether it's a two-week vacation or a month-long work trip.

Do you offer pick-up and delivery services?

Yes! We offer pick-up and delivery to LAX and local Orange County airports. This is perfect for busy travelers who want a seamless boarding experience from door to door. Contact us for availability and pricing.
